07:21 AM ET 09.05 | Is three a crowd? In the daily saga that has become the quarterback race at Michigan State, a door seemed to open for a third quarterback playing Saturday against South Florida. Offensive coordinator Dave Warner was asked on Wednesday if redshirt freshman Tyler O'Connor would get a chance to play this week and responded, "It's always a possibility." Warner wouldn't speculate who the starter would be, reaffirming what coach Mark Dantonio said on Tuesday -- that all of the quarterbacks would be getting work in practice this week and would be evaluated. Andrew Maxwell started in the opener and Connor Cook played, as well, but neither played very well, opening speculation that O'Connor or freshman Damion Terry could see the field this week.

"It's always a possibility"

is coachspeak for

"You dumbshizzle, the kid has a helmet, jersey and pads on, of course there's a chance he could play, but I'm giving you the PC answer so I don't get in trouble."

Michigan State is lost and they do not what they are doing like someone in the white house.

Shame I thought M.D. knew what he was doing, but maybe not. Def. is sick to bad off. has the talent of a jv squad. Least last year they had a beast rb.

Don't know about the first part but tend to agree on the second part.

A QB for 1st down, another QB for 2nd down, and yet another QB for third down and a Punter for 4th down......yep that should work.

maybe that's it...what is it they say? If you have 2 QB's it means you have no QB, so if you have three is it -1?

If you have two quarterbacks (or three), you don't have one.

The White House has a website. Your statement has no effect here. P.S. For all the money Michigan puts into football I don't see them winning a National Championship unless 1/2 the teams in the SEC get put on probation.

Sorry for the late post, some of us have to work for a living. I am disappointed in Maxwell's lack of development. I don't think Cook provides anything but a run option. They should give O'Conner a try. Neither Maxwell or Cook could move the offense against Western Michigan, but at least we didn't lose. That would be like losing to Western Kentucky.
