At Mizzou, patience pays off for Texas transfer

07:22 AM ET 09.05 | At long last, the ball was coming for Darius White, a transfer from Texas who had to ride out the 2012 season on Missouri's scout team. That patience paid off Saturday when White caught his first pass in nearly two years, a 7-yard throw from James Franklin on MU's first play of the second half against Murray State. Two snaps later in the 58-14 win, White broke free down the seam and snatched a strike from Franklin, good for a 37-yard touchdown. ... The Tigers ran 57 plays in the first half Saturday, and that means they'll have to substitute frequently at receiver. White, the top backup to senior outside receiver L'Damian Washington, figures to play plenty as the season resumes with Saturday's 2:30 p.m. game against Toledo (0-1).
