03:08 PM ET 09.06 | All good things come to an end, but not quickly enough for New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez who has seen his infamous "butt fumble" moment atop the ESPN Not Top 10 list for months and months on end (4o weeks, to be exact). Now, after an extended run, ESPN has decided to retire the clip, placing it deep into the Bristol archives. If only Mark Sanchez would give us more debacles to poke fun at.

What they need to do is retire Sanchez deep in the bowels of the Bristol archives.

Baloney. Once Stuart Scott runs out of hyperbole (which happens often), hell personally dig it out.

The four-lettered-network thrives on repeating things that have nothing to do with current events. Why stop now?

Who's bowels? Chris Berman's? Lots of room in those bowels.

His tombstone will read "Inventor of the Butt Fumble." The only way to retire the butt fumble is to have NSA scrub the www for all references, videos, etc and then wait for the last person on Earth to see the butt fumble clip to die.

Oh... this play will never truly 'retire'. Fans will be watching it for years.

September 7, 2013  09:07 AM ET

You can't "retire" the BUTT FUMBLE, that is un-American!

September 7, 2013  09:56 AM ET

Thank God for YouTube.

How sad for Sanchize that this is what he'll be remembered for. Clint Longley wasn't exactly a great quarterback but we all remember him for one shining moment. Sanchez has the Buttfumble. I kinda feel bad for the guy.

We the fans, not ESPN, will decide when it get retired.

And THAT, is a long way off.
