Will Pat Haden fire Lane Kiffin?

07:38 AM ET 09.08 | Two games into the 2013 season, there are two words that perfectly describe the state of the USC football program. They are two words that echoed through the bowels of the Coliseum late Saturday night, two words chanted by thousands of voices, two words illustrating how a loyal and sunny crowd have been drenched in anger and hopelessnesss. "Fire ... Kiffin." With three hours of boos preceding the ominous late chant, Kiffin's Trojans were poorly coached, poorly managed, and ultimately embarrassed in a 10-7 loss to Washington State. Pat Haden and his rose-colored spectacles can't ignore what happened on the field and in the stands in Saturday night's home debut, and how it mirrors what has happened with Kiffin since the middle of last season. This is no longer about the smoke and mirrors of deflated footballs and phony jersey numbers. This is about reality of defeats that are embarrassing to the program's rich tradition, a culture whose proud legacy is under the care of Haden, whose effectiveness is also now being seriously questioned.

Yes, the only question is when. The guy is a joke.

Texas will also be coach shopping as the new and improved shorthorns allowed over 500 yards rushing to BYU.

Kiffin may not be HC material, but the Trojans' on field performance recently is also Pete Carroll's fault; those NCAA recruiting restrictions have really hurt.
The best coaches would be struggling with USC's lack of depth right now.

Okay, OT. Where are you? We need to talk about Auburn barely beating the worst team in the West last week. I think we need to redefine who's the worst team in the West.

Not sure who has the worst team, but we've got the "award" for worst offense sewn up.

Had to check in this morning after Mack and Kitten meltdowns. Kitten I can understand, the guy is in yr 3 and he won't make it till the end. Parlayed daddy's resume and his GQ looks to land a job he is wholly unqualified for. He is now exposed and Hayden will do the right thing.

But for the love of God somebody explain Mack to me. I am just plain dumb because I cannot understand how a program that is landing top 5 classes every year, year after year, in the hotspot of high school recruiting gets beat so badly. How long is a NC good for??? I figure 3/4 yrs tops. But it is now 8 yrs ago and they are sliding.

Mack must go. Somebody explain it for me.

FIFY....I said last night on the message board that everyone of the rusty cow LBs and DBs had seen the read option in HS many, many times so it wasn't new to them. Has to be coaching when it is that damn bad.

Yes!!!!! After last night's performance LK has to go and the sooner the better!!!! USC defense looked good, but that offense really sucked!!!!

I agree, both Mack and LK must be fired and for USC and Longhorn fans they should be fired today!!!! USC's offense looked terrible last night, they didn't have that usual fire in their eyes!! I said last week that Washington State is terrible, well USC is worse!!! Just my opinion!!!

There is no logical or rational explanation.

Unless you are part of the group that think the object of the game is revenue generation instead of winning games....and there are a lot of those out there besides the rusty cows. As evidence I give you Colorado and Missouri just to name a few. Even though their total revenue generation isn't as big as the rusty cows, their decisions were revenue generated with little chance of winning.

DC, I have been trying to defend LK, but after last night, I can't defend the guy anymore. That was a terrible performance by USC's offense.

Seriously??? Its about revenue in Texas? I am not trying to be sarcastic btw. I always thought of Austin and UT as a football proud university. The revenue is a given (I would think) just like it is in C-bus, but the quality of the product goes to the pride of the institution. I can tell you Ohio State would not suffer Mack's record and performance this long. To me its not that they lost to BYU so much as how they lost. They were destroyed at the point of attack.
This team just laid down.
