Silence between Nicks, Giants

07:17 AM ET 09.09 | On the one hand, the Giants stepped up this past offseason to sign the receiver Victor Cruz. They haven't paid receiver Hakeem Nicks. And there's a chance they never will. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the two sides aren't talking as the final year of Nicks' contract commences. While it's easy to assume the Giants will use the franchise tag on Nicks, keep two important things in mind. First, it will be very expensive to use the tag, in excess of $10 million. Second, the Giants don't use the franchise tag very often. Over the last 20 years, they've used it only three times. So Nicks, if no deal is done, quite likely will hit the market. And he'd then be able to go, if he so chooses, to the highest bidder.

I turned on NBC last night to watch a football game, but it must have been blacked out in my area, because all I saw was something that looked like an old Keystone Cops movie.

had they only committed half the mistakes, the Giants would have won easily. But thanks!!!

See ya!

Another very unprofessional game. Looked like another preseason game not a real NFL game.

If Romo continues to throw that much with that o-line he will not finish the season.

As long as he finishes the Giants, I'm satisfied.

Hail to the Redskins!

Contrats to the cowboys and their fans. You don't get extra style points added or deducted after any game, just a win or a loss.

With Waters coming in next week we can get rid of the scrub Berdanaux of however you spell his name.

Come to Dallas Hakeem. We'll find a spot fer ya.

September 9, 2013  08:59 AM ET

If Nicks asks for more than they think he is worth, then he will be gone. Rueben Randle was drafted for a reason, he has made the next step, and you cannot keep everybody. And Reese will look in the next draft for a WR to follow. He is exceptional it appears of knowing one when he sees one.

Romo throw too much! 49 attempts and he held the ball too long! The O-Line did their job.

Where is the money coming from. The cowboys kicked the can down the road in all those renegotiated contracts lately. They have 70 players under contract for 2014 at $141 million by some accounts. Cuts to current players mean dead cap money moved up from the bonus money currently spread out.

Dez Bryant becomes free agent in 2015. Not that easy for the cowboys to throw money around next year.
