07:18 AM ET 09.09 | In one unfortunate sense, this was a case of deja vu all over again. They ate up veteran big back Cedric Benson in the opening game last season, limiting him to 18 yards in nine rushes. On Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers' voracious defense did the same thing to rookie big back Eddie Lacy, holding him to 41 yards in 14 carries. ... "It didn't start very well," right guard T.J. Lang said of a rushing attack that had 12 carries for 27 yards in the first three quarters. "We made some adjustments on the sideline. Tried to hit some quick ones downhill." Coach Mike McCarthy ran Lacy on the first play but the gain was only 1 yard after Lang couldn't get defensive end Ray McDonald blocked. He opened the second series with a run by Lacy off right tackle, but center Evan Dietrich-Smith and Lang failed to stop penetration by McDonald and the result was minus-3.

Somehow Lacy still had 11.5 points in our FF league. I have to question the scoring.

Lacy looked pretty good...just played against a very good defense.

Considering the defense he was going against, I thought Lacy looked promising (not not spectacular)

Seems right to me when you factor in the receiving, the TD, and the fumble.

Too bad the Pack has to put up with rookie calls by the officals ... again!

September 9, 2013  08:12 AM ET

Not a bad game.

September 9, 2013  08:15 AM ET

Lots of sloppy play across the league yesterday.

It must have been his receiving yards I missed...

That's the key here. Few running backs have good games against the Niners.

September 9, 2013  08:33 AM ET

While Lacy and Oven-Mitt hands Finley both messed up, they also both redeemed themselves My concern was not Rzn but the pass defense. Great job against the run but a big Fail against the pass.

Tell me about it.

We almost lost to the Bills. The Pats have a lot of hard work ahead of them to tune everyone up and make them into a football team.

Yes! I thought yesterday looked more like the fifth week of the preason.

Hey..I know. But you know BB loves those games. Practice will be hell on this short week.

It was turnover Sunday.

Exactly what I thought. He's going to be a lot better when he's not facing that front 7.

Especially last night! Pepperidge Farm doesn't have that many turnovers. HA!!

I'd really hoped the Detroit pre-season game would have already done that.

It's gonna be 93 degrees here on Wednesday. A hard practice will teach them all to hold on to the ball.

And that includes Mr. Brady.

September 9, 2013  08:53 AM ET

Eddie's gonna be a good back. >>>>> Damn it!>>>>

They were very fortunate to get out of Buffalo with a win.

They are counting the three decent runs he had that were taken back due to that moron Sitton holding. I explained to wife that once he does that the refs look for it so its kind of stupid to do it three times in a row and even more stupider when the coaching staff doesn't pull you to have a little talk.
Maybe its something they do in practice to make up for having the worst O line on the planet.
