07:25 AM ET 09.09 | Righty Daniel Bard, whose up-and-down career in Boston saw him recently cut loose before he was picked up by former GM Theo Epstein, has a new MLB home in Chicago. [Bard], whom the Cubs claimed off waivers from the Red Sox, threw a second bullpen on Sunday. There is no timetable for him to get into a game, and he may not appear in the Cubs' remaining 20 games. "It'd be nice to see, but it's his timetable and we'll evaluate and we'll find out how he's doing and how he's feeling," [Cubs manager Dale Sveum] said. Bard was sidelined most of the season with a strained abdominal muscle and struggled with his consistency.

It will be a good story if he can find his way back to being the relief pitcher he once was.

If he does, Theo and the Cubs' staff are miracle workers, or psychiatrists.
Wish him and them luck. Hate to see a young man with that talent implode.

I knew Bard would end up with the Cubbies. They are a magnet for crappy relief pitchers. Bard's agent should make a call to Theo ASAP to see if he wants to sign him to a 4 year $52 million extension.
