Could Manziel hurt Sumlin's NFL career?

07:29 AM ET 09.09 | Whether he did or didn't blow past Kevin Sumlin on the sidelines against Rice, Johnny Manziel's interaction with his head coach did catch the eyes of many. [You'd] better believe that Sumlin's ability to control the strong-willed and sometimes bullheaded Manziel is a component to which the NFL teams are paying attention. ... "It's more than just X's and O's, you know?" a league general manager noted to NFP last week, in discussing Sumlin and Manziel. "You have to find ways to manage even the more unmanageable people on your team. And time will tell if (Sumlin) has that quality. We'll see." Said a league director of operations: "Any team starting to look (at Sumlin), it just gives them one more thing to watch moving forward. It makes a difference."

Depends on how their season plays out. Beat Bama and win a NC and its forgotten. A so so season and yes it will hurt his possible NFL aspirations.

Great preparation for a league full of prima donnas.

Poor Sumlin, the guy is saddled with an immature but talented player, and if he can't get a muzzle and leash on JFF, his NFL stock drops. Dat suxes mightily.

I don't think Manzieil will hurt his chances. Everyone and their mom knows that JM is an immature brat who gets the white glove treatment. Manziel would be running wild and tarnishing images regardless of who the head coach is. I hope Sumlin can have success wherever he goes.

Isn't this the second or third thread on the same subject?
Give it a rest; 99.99 % of FN posters don't care about this topic.

That's alright. There are probably eleventy billion mesquite trees in Texas. Three or four won't be missed.
Anyway, take the dead trees, soak'em in water and let then dry to remove the poison, and throw in the barbee and smoke some ribs and such, moron.

Sorry, that would be StupidMoron

Doesn't TAMU have some sacred tree as well? The War Memorial or something. Maybe that is grass you can not step on?

September 9, 2013  01:13 PM ET

The Impression that I have gotten from the situation is that Sumlin's hands are tied. JM is a very talented athlete but grew up as a spoiled little rich brat that got away with everything. Now that he has beaten the NCAA on these latest allegations and he has the backing of the university president. Checkout the pic http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1763834-texas-am-president-throws-up-jo hnny-manziels-show-me-the-money-gesture. I'm sure Sumlin will bolt on the first good offer that comes his way.
