No Giants guarantees for Brandon Jacobs

07:02 AM ET 09.10 | If it's Tuesday, it's tryout day in New York. Anyone who watched David Wilson fumble away his first career NFL start and Da'Rel Scott fail to make a play down the stretch of a 36-31 season-opening loss to the Cowboys realizes the Giants need help at running back. They seem to realize that, too, which is why they will entertain a familiar face, Brandon Jacobs, as well as NFL veteran Willis McGahee on Tuesday for a look-see. Jacobs wants to return to the Giants after spending -- make that: wasting everyone's time -- last season in San Francisco not playing much at all for the 49ers. A source told The Post that Jacobs and McGahee will be at the workout and Joe McKnight, a recent Jets cut, also is expected to attend. The source said no one has been guaranteed that a running back will be signed.

and hold onto the ball.

Actually good to see the Giants being proactive. In the mean time, Wilson needs to hit the weight room or learn to protect the ball with both arms when hit. He got out-muscled and stripped by the defense.

Me too.. Brandon is still tip toeing through the tulips. He thinks he's a scat back.

He needs to go to the Tiki Barber school of not fumbling.

I could be wrong but doesn't he have a problem holding on to the ball?

It is about finding a back who can pick up blitzes and block. Any running is a bonus.

That's it... and that's why I would lean to Jacobs strictly on familiarity alone.
