As Roger Clemens made his final maneuvers on Capitol Hill Tuesday, meeting with five more members of the congressional committee that will grill him at today's hearing on the Mitchell Report, one former teammate came roaring to his defense. And it wasn't Andy Pettitte. The Associated Press reported that Jose Canseco, an admitted steroid user, had submitted a sworn affidavit to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, claiming he had never seen Clemens "use, possess or ask for steroids or human growth hormone."

did they ever play on the same team together? If not, who cares!

February 13, 2008  07:42 AM ET

I could swear I've never seen him possess or ask for steroids. This is dumb.

I wonder how many millions Jose got for writing that avidavit... probably half of Clemens' salary last year? That's 14 million bucks. I'd write an avidavit for that money, especially since nobody will ever find out if you told the truth or not... very smart move Roger. I must congratulate you. You are above the law. Amazing what money can buy these days.

Red Sox Babe,

Actually they played on three teams together. The Red Sox, Blue Jays and Yankees.

What kills me in his book JC said that they discussed the benefits of using steriods with Clemens in his book. BUT he never actually saw them. I guess it depends on how much Jose likes you on what he says. What a hypocrite.

Look at that hat! Things must really be tough for Jose if he's auditioning for the Village People.

Oh well, if you can't believe a pillar of the community like Jose Canseco, who can you believe?

Remember this folks none of these people are honorable people in my book. They all are liars and cheaters to some extent or the other. The problem is for DOJ (yes DOJ and not Congress) to seperate what truths and what lies they can prove and then to act accordingly. The crux of the matter is which liar is the bigger liar at this point. And if need be then prosecute them both and toss them in the same prison together so they can see their ugly faces every day to remind them, of their stupidy and selfcentered audacity. Then i hope DOJ can find at least one each of the following to prosecute: an owner, a union offical and the commissioner for contributing to this vey sordid and pitiful chapter in the greatest game that was ever invented. ( i don't see that happening in reality but damn I wish it would.)
PS. yeah if Canseco is caught with contradictory information and it can be used as evidence that he perjured himself or slandered someone then he is fair game in my book. Stupid jackass. "Oh what a tangled web we perceive when at first we seek to decieve." They lie when the truth would serve them better. all of them. but i guess that is the mind set of these people.

I love how you all say Canseco is the only one to tell the truth, then he contradicts a story you all believe and all of a sudden why should anyone believe him.

They say there is no honor among thieves. Well these guys are thieves of a different order. they stole some thing pricelss from us all. and they can't even see that because they have been blinded by fame and money. I can't say that I wouldn't have done some of the things that these men have done but, God, i would hope I would have enough balls and honor left in me to admit where i was wrong and to take steps to do what ever I could to fix my errors and to make amends.
