07:08 AM ET 09.10 | To hear David Wright tell it, the positive signs are there. [Wright] flew back to New York on Monday afternoon, still resolved to return to the Mets before the season ends in three weeks. "I don't think the clock is going to run out," said Wright, who has been on the disabled list since Aug. 3 with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. "I think I'll be back at least for a larger chunk of the remainder of the games. That's kind of the goal, and I haven't really even thought about not playing those." Wright said he has done all baseball activities except run the bases. He has done some cutting and arcs while running to prepare for baserunning. "Running and everything feels good so far," he said. Wright returned to New York because activity had all but ceased at the Mets' Port St. Lucie, Fla., complex.

Why? Go home and come back in spring training

Some guys actually do love the game.... I see him as one.....

Andy Pettite is not having a horrible year. He's still a solid number 4/5 starter given his stats this year. I think he has one more year in the tank.... but - we will see.

QUOTE(#4):

It's not about love, it's business

He's getting paid just the same..... on the DL or not.... the reason for him to come back at this point in the season, is because he loves the game, or wants to set an example as a leader on the team.....

I'm not sure - it purely "business"

QUOTE(#9):

You were being very pessimistic

No - I simply said - if he came back - it would because he either loves the game, or wants to show leadership.... How is that pessimistic. If he comes back like he says he wants to... I'd take that as a very encouraging sign.....

If not - there would have to be a different opportunity for him to show his love for the game or show leadership qualities.... not pessimistic at all.

Wright should feel no urgency to get back. Ownership doesn't feel any urgency to put a good product together.

If Wright comes back for last 2 weeks and gets reinjured both Wright and Mets will look like fools. Wright should take rest of season off and get ready for 2014.
