Michigan QB showcasing NFL skills

07:14 AM ET 09.10 | Instead of a delay of game penalty, which seemed imminent as the clock wound down on one play against Notre Dame on Saturday, Devin Gardner simply called for the snap, took off right, stopped cold, cut up the field and slipped into the end zone. All [Brady Hoke] could do was turn back toward his team, shrug his shoulders, throw his arms into the air and offer up a half-smile. ... Michigan quarterbacks have had big arms before. They've had sturdy frames and pocket presence and leadership ability. They've had downfield speed and the ability to make defenders miss. But they've never had all of this in one quarterback. They do now. The evolution of the game is about big arms supported by nimble feet. NFL teams showcase a handful of these sublime quarterbacks every Sunday. I have no doubt Gardner will join them one day.

It was only ND.

But, but, but.............everyone said ND was going to THROTTLE Michigan..........humming a different tune I see. But I concur, ND is like the Dallas Cowboys of college football - LOTS of hype, little success in return (I'm talking the last twenty years).

DC, I think we're going to say "it was only....." every time Michigan wins until they meet Ohio State in November, hopefully OSU will be undefeated at that time too.

Nah, just stirring the domers up. That only works with them...or a lower tier SEC team.

But, I get what you are saying.

The guy is impressive both on and off the field unlike a certain past Heisman winner.

Domers have been scarce since Saturday.

Yep .......wait till TSUN plays a real football team and then we will see what kind of a QB he is.

So we should all sing his praises against the likes of Akron, Connecticut, Minnesota, Penn State and Indiana?

Twenty years ago the 'Pokes were in the midst of winning back-to-back Super Bowls. Sure that's a fair comparison?

Come on Joe! Don't you know that is Murderer's Row...at least according to one former B1G president.

Jerry Jones and his Acolytes ascribe to the rusty cow mentality. You can lose games as long as the cash register stays full. And as many mindless Acolytes as Jerry has, they will remain full regardless of how bad he tries to screw them up.

Gardner is the "real deal" / doubters (River especially) beware. If he stays healthy, he will have maybe the best all around year in the history of Michigan football.

Oh hillbilly, you poor, poor brain-addled chimp..............you were one of the delusional ones that said Notre Dame was going to CRUSH Michigan, now you're doin' the John Kerry flip-flop.Michigan has a cupcake this Saturday, my prediction Michigan 59 Akron "ZIP".............then they start the Big Ten conference schedule, the second toughest division behind the SEC, so you will get to see them play a marquee team every other week.

LOL I'll give you that one.........I think the delusional part might go both ways TSUN do's not play a "Marque team" as you say till there last 4 games of the year......kinda of like the Domers who don't really play no one till there last 2 games.

Give it a week.

Sorry Utleys. Even though we "cheer" for the same team I have to strongly disagree with you on this.

With the showing so far (i.e. MSU, Nebraska especially), I would say the B1G is maybe tied with the PAC 12 for 3rd at best. The ACC looks to be 2nd right now.

Last 40 yrs. have they had a top notch QB? A high draft pick ? It wouldn't be hard to best QB in history as you say if you look at the past.

Wisconsin vs ASU this Saturday will tell us a lot about the B1G vs the PAC12. They are two teams at about the same "level" in their conferences.
