07:09 AM ET 09.11 | In 2012-13, the Knicks won 54 games, which has Carmelo Anthony setting a mark on the horizon. [Anthony] said Tuesday he believes the Knicks are a better team than they were last season and called the Nets rivalry now the best in the NBA. Anthony, a guest speaker at the Bloomberg Sports Business Summit in Midtown, also indicated he would have even more of a scoring mentality than he did last season, when he won the scoring title. ... "We were the top two seed last year," Anthony said. "I think nobody expected that. This year we expect to do the same thing. I actually see this team be better than last year's team. I won't get into all the details [why]. But we feel that. We feel we have improved as a unit."

Adding Andrea Bargnani helped you how?

JR must have rubbed off on him. Why don't you let your game do the talking? Now you really have to prove it every night. This is no different than the "not 7" guarantee. Copeland is gone. Kidd is gone. JR just got dumber. The shooters are gone. That paint will be a lot tighter now that you don't have shooters to spread the floor.

Bargnani, Artest, Hardaway JR , Udrih > Novak, Camby, Kidd, Copeland

I agree. And most that follow the NBA would also.

why cause of the blockbuster Bargnani trade?
Will Amare average 17 & 10?
Felton & J.R Smith have had too much to say since the nets got better, the knicks are the #5 seed at best!

Yes they may have better players with Camby and Kurt Thomas gone now, but it's also the mental games they can't get by. I don't see them getting past Indiana, NJ, Chicago or the Heat

NEVER FORGET.

Even though i don't root for them anymore....I actually do think they have upgraded their personnel (relatively speaking)The underlying issue though is that by getting injured guys back....Chicago and Indy upgraded more and Boston did as well.NY may be 'better' but they are likely the 5

This is there make or break with this roster...

They always put up a good fight against elite teams and will most likely have a battle on their hands to take the division...

But it will be worth watching...and if there is some HEAT in this rivalary...it will come when MELO trys to go against KG in the paint...

yupthey are certainly in win-now mode (not that they CAN win- btu that's what they're playing for) and if healthy - they can make a little noisebut they haven't been healthy in 3 years now, and they still don't have the right philosophy, so the odds aren't with them

The certainly have takes on paper and on the court....

A realiable SF...a PF when healthy can truly HELL IN KICKS in the paint...a true BIG at C...and the young roll players are making that noice you mentioned...

I am truly looking forward to this season's games between the NJ/NYC clubs...

Exactly.

The Knicks will likely be the 3 seed. I think they will battle the Nets for that 3. Indy will be the 5th seed. Indy isn't a dominant team in the regular season. Everyone just believes in them so much because they pose matchup problems for the Heat which causes playoff series between them to be long and competitive.

QUOTE(#16):

they need to reduce smiths minutes and not play him and melo at the same time. When they play both- there are 2 black holes- which means easy to defendI think they also need to re-commit to defense, they played phenomenal D early in the season and it got progressively worse....

There D took a hit, because of your mentioned black holes...

They both can play D,but it seems like you mentioned when they are onthe court together they both try to hard to call for the ball...

Plus when the do get the ball, they sometimes miss easy buckets, because they want to take the shot...

It's not where you are seeded but how you play in the playoffs. Remember Golden State taking it to the #1 seed Dallas a few years ago. Or #8 Memphis taking apart the Spurs.

As a part-time NY fan I think the Knicks will meet and defeat the Heat.

They have upgraded but they lack the shooters and lost some leadership from last year.
