07:24 AM ET 09.12 | Miami Marlins' slugger Giancarlo Stanton would look good in the Philadelphia lineup and the Phillies know it. [The] Phils still have a thing for Stanton. "I've tried to trade for him at least 10 times," GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said Wednesday afternoon. Amaro pretended to tap out a text message on his cell phone. "He says, 'I'm not trading him,'" said Amaro, pretending to read the response from Larry Beinfest, the Marlins' president of baseball operations. When was the last time Amaro inquired about Stanton? "Not all that long ago," Amaro said. The Phillies have long been on the lookout for a big, middle-of-the-order, right-handed bat. ... "He's one of the best right-handed power bats in the game," Amaro said. He paused and added: "He's property of the Marlins, dude."

I highly doubt the Marlins would trade Stanton in the division. If you look at the past firesales of the Marlins, they are always dealt to the AL: Reyes/Buehrle to the BlueJays, Cabrera/Willis to the Tigers, Beckett to the RedSox. The Marlins are probably going to ask for 3 blue-chip prospects for Stanton, and the Phillies don't have that in their farm system right now.

Stanton would look good in anyone's lineup. Duh.

Amaro signs Utley to an extension that will keep Utley a Phillie until he retires in a couple of years. He could have traded Utley for some prospects. The Marlins will not trade Stanton to Phillies. Stanton will probably go to AL. Loria does not want to trade Stanton to NL. and have to face him 6 -7 games a year. Sending Stanton the Marlins will only have to face him only on the occasional series of interleague play. Loria will want several top prospects. Something the Phillies lack.

Nothing like a little illegal tampering to start your day.

Amaro waited to long holding on to veterans. now that Amaro wants to infuse some youth he will probably have to give up some veterans to help get younger. Rollins may have to be the sacrificial lamb to get some prospects for future. Amaros future with Phillies may be over soon.

Yeah that 2008 World Series Championship ring...............why can't he be as successful as the Rangers' GM?

That World Series ring belongs to Gillick. Amaro got the GM gig in November of 2008.

I stand corrected, so Amaro basically is comparable to the Rangers GM instead of being better.

Having observed your schtick for a few years, you might want to look into a new one.
