07:28 AM ET 09.12 | Sorry, Auburn fans. NBA analyst, outspoken Alabama native and former Auburn basketball star Charles Barkley loves his Tigers. And in his world, being pro-Auburn is the same as being anti-Alabama. Barkley, though, may have changed his tune, for at least a week anyway. "Johnny Manziel, he's doing something I never thought was possible," Barkley told Waddle and Silvey on ESPN 1000 in Chicago on Tuesday. "He's going to make me root for Alabama this weekend. I never thought I would say those words. I am so close to saying 'Roll Tide.' Johnny Manziel is annoying me so much. I'm really close to saying 'Roll Tide.'" Barkley was reminded his comments might not sit well with the Auburn Nation. "They're not going to be happy," Barkley admitted.

Heresy I say, heresy.

Barkley is a clownish publicity-seeker, and is getting a lot of the attention he seeks with these remarks.

Barkley is known for saying things that upset people, and a lot of times auburn fans. He once said that auburn needs to give up trying to be Alabama, because auburn would never be able to match Alabama's tradition. Needless to say auburn fans were very mad abou that.

And his golf swing...

Barkely is a fat moron.

Nothing like going out on a limb here. it would be the same as him saying he is picking the Dodgers to make post season playoffs

Yet most of the time He's right. Sir Charles is a pretty savvy observer of the sports scene, much as I dislike saying that.

He is right about that though....No school in the SEC has Gump tradition... it is what it is

You are right in perceiving that nobody else is "Gumpish." Bammers stand alone in the indecipherable nature of their fandom. HOWEVER, many other founding members of the SEC are as rich in tradition as any school with a football team, Havard, Yale, ND, UM included.

Go Vols.

The only manner in which Bammers exceed other fans is in the illogic of their fandom and propensity to madness, fear, and violence.
