07:32 AM ET 09.13 | After conference shakeups over the past few years, some rivalries may be salvaged -- such as Georgetown and Syracuse -- but Maryland and Duke won't be one of them. Sports Fix host Kevin Sheehan, a massive Maryland fan, was lamenting the end of what had been a terrific rivalry for Maryland supporters. [Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski] shared in his lament. "The quality of athlete on the court and then the atmosphere that they were able to play in really brought out some special moments," Coach K agreed. ... "It was established over a period of time, and that won't happen again. That's not gonna happen again, because we're not gonna schedule them. It's tough to schedule anybody when you have 18 conference games. But when we schedule non-conference, it's usually outside of our conference area."

Sounds like he's butt-hurt.

It sounds more like a business decision rooted in recruiting needs and team exposure to other regions.

Like Kim Mulkey told A & M when they asked to schedule them after leaving the Big 12. Something like, hell no! You wanted a divorce. Now you are asking to sleep with us only. Hell no.

Sounds like coach K is chicken shi! like that GUTLESS and chicken ****! kelley.

Looks like they're ducking the Terps like Georgetown did.

A quick check of Duke's schedule for 2013-2014 shows non-conference home games against mighty foes like East Carolina, UNC Ashville, Elon and Eastern Michigan. Pretty sure the folks at Cameron Indoor Arena would much rather see a home and home with Maryland than any of these "recruiting rivals". And technically speaking, with Maryland leaving the ACC, the state of Maryland is no longer in the ACC' conference footprint.

With only a conference change, Maryland magically becomes a member of the infamous Murderer's Row. Your own college president said so.

That's too bad. Maryland vs Duke was one game to look forward to in the season.

It seems like Maryland ducking duke by leaving ACC for Big 10. Don't gripe to Duke why should Duke reward Maryland by scheduling them. Maryland will have their hands full facing the tough teams in Big 10such as Ohio State , Michigan state, Indiana, Illinois, and Purdue. Michigan and Minnesota often have good teams also.

for got to mention Wisconsin as one of the tough Big 10 teams.
