07:37 AM ET 09.13 | Daniel Cleary's long and winding road of an offseason wound up landing him in the same place: Detroit. This was a summer-long saga that featured several twists. [GM Ken Holland] and teammates thought Cleary was gone after he agreed late Monday night to join the Philadelphia Flyers on a tryout. He was prepared to fly to Philadelphia on Tuesday, but just couldn't go. He requested one final meeting with Holland and coach Mike Babcock Wednesday in Traverse City for what he called "closure." "Looking them in the eye, talking to Babs and Kenny ... just had to figure a way to agree on it," Cleary said. ... Holland now has until the end of the month to trim three players from the roster. Cleary said he had no guaranteed deal in Philadelphia, despite a report of a three-year agreement worth $8.2 million.

I am going to have to rethink my US city rankings.

Dude turns down $8.2 million guaranteed for a little over $1 million. Just cuz he would have to leave Detroit and go to Philly to get the extra $7.2 mil

It tells you something about Philly when somebody doesn't want to leave a city like Detroit.

That's true. Philly's not for everyone. Some guys can't handle having all the cultural outlets and history and fine dining within easy reach. For some it's easier living in a place with nothing to do in their off time. Keeps the distractions to a minimum so they can concentrate on their game. Definitely a fine choice.

Dude, it's Friday the 13th, so you chill. I don't mind people poking fun at Philly especially when they are being clever and witty. I just found your post lacking in both.
