09:54 AM ET 09.15 | With his players headed to the locker room at halftime of Saturday's 29-12 win over Western Illinois, Gophers football coach Jerry Kill dropped to the turf while suffering a seizure. Medical staff quickly tended to him, and it wasn't long before he was carted off the field and resting in the locker room. Kill was taken to a hospital and released to go home two hours after the game. Gophers coaches and players downplayed the sight as something they're used to, but that might not have been the case for others watching. Kill's third seizure during a game while at the University of Minnesota has made his battle with epilepsy a public struggle. But the message from the Gophers is that Kill is going to be fine.

How did his parents not name him Bill?

As the relative of someone living with this condition, I say kudos to Jerry Kill for living his dream of coaching in spite of his disability.

What is Minnesota waiting for? Waiting for Kill to drop dead on national TV? Just put Kill on medical leave and save this embarrassment to Minnesota. They already hired a Basketball manger who never dribbled a ball as the ir BB coach. Embarrassing.

You've hit on Kill before, Bearcat, so I'm gonna speculate and say it has to do with the Americans with Disabilities Act. I think it would be discriminatory to fire/release Kill just for his condition. Now, once his contract is up, if the Minny admin wanted to make some other pretext ("not moving the program forward," etc.) then they've got an out. Not presently, however.

They are waiting for him to keel over...All kidding aside.... I think he needs to be reassigned in the AD or put him in the press boxCan you imagine how traumatic it would be if he did pass on the sidelines on National TV..

Well, there were more than a few games where Paterno coached from the pressbox. Might be a good compromise situation for Coach Kill to do the same.

As long as they are winning thier games coach Kill's epilepsy will not be an issue.

October could get ugly for him.

He's had one of these episodes each year and he rolls on. If it doesn't bother the kids, isn't life threatening and he wins then he will continue as HC... and rightly so. What surprises me is that the University is cool with it. What if he doesn't recover from an episode, then his family would sue Minnesota for letting him coach with the danger.

I hope and PRAY yes PRAY to our GOD and JESUS that Coach Kill will get better.

Our god is jesus, unless you're a dirty terrorist. Ann Coulter told me.

Lane Kiffin would never have a seizure at a game.

[Unless catatonic episodes count.]

Carpe diem, Jerry.

If you've got no investment in the B1G, I cannot see how you wouldn't have a sympathetic wish for the success of Jerry and his Killer Gs.

September 15, 2013  01:29 PM ET

Geez. I admire the guy's guts, but maybe it's time to hang it up.

September 15, 2013  01:54 PM ET

I heard that the B1G is dumping the "Leaders and Legends" divisions and just looked that up for confirmation and the article said that Rutgers and Maryland are joining the conference next year. Are they trying to make their conference even more pointless? They should change the division names to "The Ohio" and "The State", because they're a 1 team conference. Which makes it appropriate that they have a 1 in their conference name, because they are definitely the Big-1.

Charlie Weis did also; didn't help his W-L record.

What is Minnesota waiting for? Waiting for Kill to drop dead on national TV? Just put Kill on medical leave and save this embarrassment to Minnesota because I have no clue about the disease, as its rarely fatal, and the Americans with Disabilities Act flies into the face of my bigotry toward people. They already hired a Basketball manger who never dribbled a ball as the ir BB coach although he worked for Rick Pitino and Billy Donovan and was on the radar for other schools, plus the AD has built BB programs before, but I like asserting my stupidity for all to see. I repeat things a lot just like the drunk at the end of the bar. Embarrassing myself because ignorance and WiFi are not a good mix.

Fixed.
