RGIII lost his Midas touch

07:07 AM ET 09.16 | While it's easy to say the Redskins' failures after two games come down to fundamentals, something more important may be at work. The defense is porous, the running game is ineffective and mistakes keep costing the Washington Redskins yards, touchdowns and games. But something perhaps more powerful is missing: the confident, dependable play of Griffin himself. Two games into this season, Griffin hasn't been himself, and it's difficult to know when the fun-loving kid with the Midas touch and the astounding skills will return. ... Through two games, both blowout losses that second-half comebacks have masked, Griffin's passes have been late and off-target. His runs, which are infrequent, have looked tentative. His authority and ability to pick his team up, no matter its problems, seem lost.

Ron Jaworski had a great analysis of the film that indicates RGIII has developed bad throwing mechanics as a result of the leg pain - possibly by trying to come back too fast. By getting out there early and passing while still in pain, he compensated by switching his throwing mechanics. So while the pain "may" be gone now, he has developed the bad throwing mechanics.

The NFC East is up for grabs. 8 games played, and between them the 4 teams have 2 wins.

Same with the AFC North. After tonight, they'll be 2-6, too.

RGIII was a better fit for the Skins instead of Andrew Luck, because he was mobile. Our team isn't built for a pocket QB to thrive. I'm not sure Kirk Cousins would have done any better. I'm sure Griffin will get it together soon. However, without the play option read the QB version of RGIII can't get it done alone.

THEY ALL SUCK in the NFC East! I guess Chip's new flave offense isn't all that much if SD can beat them.

And let's not ignore the elephant in the room yo....

Jim Haslett's defense SUCKS!

The defense has given up over 1000 yards already this season with over 70 points scored.

The QB can't help but be 1 dimensional when you're down by 21 in the first quarter every week.

Leave it to the Skin's media to create a QB controversy after only 2 games. No loyalty at all.

Eagles put up 30 points and you think the offense is to blame for the loss?

At what point does the defense take responsibility? 50?

As does the Iggles... and Cowboys... and Giants.

This division is terrible. Your heroes aren't out of it yet. But the Broncos are gonna abuse all of us.

I don't blame RGIII. The kid has heart.

I blame Mike Shanahan for rushing him back on the field... story of Shanny's career.

NFC East went 0-3 vs the AFC West this weekend.

That's a serious ego blow.

Will Bob be the ? And the Mysterians of the NFL? A one hit wonder.

Good thing none of our teams had to play the Raiders...

Your defensive ranking will improve once they play the Cowboys. Don't worry Yo! ;)

What's also true is that there is no difference in the Cowboys play calling. If you can find it let me know O!

He came back too early. The Packers' defense is the weak spot of their team, and one of the weaker defenses in the league, so not to be able to move the ball against them, except after the outcome of the game has been decided, is a big concern.

He'll be back. And then you're gonna cry. Cry cry cry. 96 tears.

Play calling in D sucks. Defense is outdated. Thats why Kiffin resigned from USC
