Ovechkin on NHL rule: 'Stupid'

07:24 AM ET 09.16 | With a refreshing of the rules for 2013-14, one mandates that players' protective equipment and padding must be worn under the uniform. As anyone who has ever watched him play in a game or skate in practice knows, Alex Ovechkin has always tucked his jersey into his pants. While the Capitals winger is prepared to follow the rule, he's not pleased with it. "I'm the guy who love that kind of stuff. I'm kind of upset about it, but most important thing, nobody talk to us, the players. They think it can be dangerous for somebody. I think it's kind of stupid," Ovechkin said Sunday. "My gear is not stay [near] my body so jersey always goes in. If I'm going to put jersey normally, I'm going to skate and it goes back."

Thank goodness that Dwarfus' NHL has seen fit o crack down on this dark spot hovering over the league....make them tuck in those jersies!
Maybe instead of standing on it to see over his lectern, maybe Dwarfus could READ the dictionary and look up the word "priority"

My thoughts as well. One of the most asinine things about the NFL is their apparel policies and of course the Dwarf has to follow the NFL's lead on the dumb crap.

In a few years only Reebok apparel will be authorized. Any player who is seen in public with a CCM stick will be fined $10,000.

$10K, which should cover the price of a new 3 pack of sticks

If he played baseball, he'd probably wear his hat backwards.

It appears Ovi has a future as an FN spammer.

There's only one guy who could wear his jersey any way he wanted. His name was Wayne and he wore #99. 'nough said.

Well ..... it could be dangerous if somebody's hand got stuck in his pants.

One of the most asinine apparel policies in the NFL is allowing some of their players to step onto the field of play with those ridiculous horse's tail hair dos. Definitely somebody could get entangled in that mess and get seriously injured or even suffocate to death. Dumb.

The point of eliminating jersey tucks is because the NHL is about to put advertising on the bottom of the jerseys.I don't like it, but it's their right to do so.

Agreed. No one doubts that...but it is a dumb rule, and you would think that a league that is trying to improve its image from "I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out" would have bigger things to worry about

So ... now all of our NHL players are going to walk around like billboards looking like Euro players? Ridiculous! But .... money talks.

I have a feeling if the fans of the more "established" teams moan enough maybe they won't touch them. I have a hard time seeing Habs fans not rioting over something like this.

Perfect for the Leafs?

horse's tail hair dos.

The thing that bugs me about those is when a guy legally grabs the hair and tackles a guy, more often than not the dumb ref calls a horse collar tackle...

And for the record, I'm not sure I understood a single thing Ovechkin said.
