07:16 AM ET 09.17 | Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather managed to miss the biggest hit he could have taken. [Meriweather] will be fined by the NFL but not suspended for his hit Sunday that knocked Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy out of the game with a concussion, two people familiar with the situation said. The amount of the fine was not immediately clear. Meriweather in 2010 was fined $50,000 for a helmet-to-helmet hit, and in 2011 received fines of $20,000 for a helmet-to-helmet hit and $25,000 for unnecessary roughness. Meanwhile, Meriweather on Monday underwent additional testing for the concussion of his own that he suffered in the second quarter of Sunday's game. But Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said he didn't expect to have an update on his status until Wednesday.

In the Choirboy league such rough housing shall not be tolerated.

What a tool...concussing himself.

And he too will be eating out of a straw in 20 years.

Not Redskins Football yo.

Also, you make the franchise QB, our WR's, our RB's ALL targets when you go out and try to hurt people this way. This guy isn't worth that.

He should have been fined twice -for each player he concussed.

Idiot...

Classic case of adding insult to injury. <See one Plaxico Burress>

For a guy that already has a history with fines for helmet to helmet, I'm surprised he avoided suspension.

Unless the NFL is not as serious as it says it is about concussions.....

No doubt. Obviously money doesn't get the message across...... it's time for an 8 game suspension.

The Pats traded Deion Branch to the Seahawks to draft Merriweather in the first round then traded their other first round pick to the 49ers who used the pick to take Joe Staley. Four other pro bowlers were then taken after the Merriweather pick in the first round.

The Pats used that Staley pick trade to take Mayo in the next draft. Good I guess, because that was the year they forfeited their own first round pick over the spygate stuff.

No do overs or mulligans allowed, but not sure they were ever better off playing Trader Jack. Is anybody?

Nor teasing, bullying, wet willies, or the hurting of feelings.

Would not be surprised if he is $100K lighter in the wallet ... next time suspension -- just like the bone head from the Lions....

Karma gave Meriweather his concussion, I thought it was quite fitting
