07:23 AM ET 09.17 | The long road back starts with some of these steps. Boston Celtics forward Jared Sullinger has begun seeing a counselor as he and his long-time girlfriend try to move on from a recent domestic violence incident. Sullinger, 21, was arraigned September 3 after being charged with assault and battery, destruction of property, and intimidation of a witness after a dispute involving Sullinger and his girlfriend, Deann Smith, at their Waltham home on August 31. During the arraignment, Middlesex Assistant District Attorney Sarah W. Ellis asked that Sullinger undergo a mental health evaluation. District Court Judge Gregory C. Flynn refused the request. ... Sullinger was released on $5,000 cash bail, but was also ordered to stay away from the apartment he and Smith shared and could only see her if a third party was present.

I won't be surprise if the GF takes him back. They also don't learn. So what if he has lots of money! Just move on!

+1.

Life is short. No point staying in a stressful relationship. Especially when it is so public. Both of them just need to move on.

I have to agree with your PURPLE/GOLD bleeding heart....

My opinion is you should never hit a woman....

However he is young, so if I had his ear, I would tell him you tried to or actually did rough her up, get away from her....

Because she upset you enought ot lose your tempor control....it will happen again....just acts TYSON...

When a relationship reaches a point to where folks are getting violent with each other, it's time to move on. From this point forward, every move they make will be scrutinized by the weight of this incident. More importantly, whatever buttons got pushed that lead them to this likely won't be fixed by counseling. They're just drawing smiley faces in the mud.

Maybe the counselor will teach him how to not leave visible bruises.

Coincidentally, this occurred in the same city that Jerry Remy's kid stabbed his girlfriend to death in front of multiple witnesses a few weeks prior.
