07:26 AM ET 09.17 | Dave Magadan has been around long enough to know that when things go south, the hitting coach is going to get some questions. [On Monday, he] rattled off a number of issues, most notably failures with runners in scoring position, but said that the key is to stick with the plan that helped them roll to 20 wins last month. "It's a combination of a lot of things," said Magadan, who was hired away from Boston 11 months ago. ... Magadan said that he can't do anything about the [home run drought] but said the key to getting runners in is to have more patient at-bats. Manager Ron Washington said that Magadan isn't to blame for the Rangers' malaise. "Our last nine ballgames, no one coach had anything to do with what's going on," Washington said. "It's not just the coaches. It's all of us. It's everyone."

Reminds me of the Cardinals about 2009 or 2010 I think. I watched a lot of their games, and there was NO FIRE at all. At a STL-WSH game, they had a great play in throwing a guy out at 3rd trying to advance on a fly.... fantastic play..... and the team just jogged into the dugout with heads down.... no life, nothing...... I knew then they wouldn't make the postseason because it had been happening all through the year.....

LOL...

Evan Grant said it best the other night. They don't need much... only a No. 3 hitter, No. 6 and 7 hitters, a DH, 1B, LF...

Some years - it just ain't your time.

That whole lead a horse to water thing works here. If it were easy everybody would be out there hitting home runs and it's been my experience that it's easy to fall into a slump at any level in this game.

They've gotta be real pissed at Nelson Cruz down in TX, they could use him now and he's busy trying to figure out how to not get caught next time.

Agreed. Magadan isn't up at the plate trying to pull a down and away pitch or failing to recognize a pitch. That's on the hitter.
