Phillies will target a righty with pop

07:28 AM ET 09.17 | In the event Cody Asche becomes Philadelphia's Opening Day third baseman in 2014 and everybody else returns, its lineup will feature five lefties in Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Domonic Brown, Ben Revere and Asche. The Phillies need at least one right-handed bat with pop. There is some buzz about free-agent Cuban first baseman Jose Abreu, but one source said he does not seem to be a fit. Abreu is not a candidate to play the outfield, which is a likely requirement for a few reasons. ... If Abreu cannot play the outfield, it would make little sense to spend money on him with so many other holes to fill, and Howard, [Darin Ruf and Maikel Franco] already in the picture. Ruf could fill a void in the lineup next season, either in the outfield or at first base against tough left-handed pitchers.

The Phils really want Stanton to play in their outfield, but they probably don't have enough talent in their system to swing such a deal with the Fish.

He was good on Philly...........funny when I was in Greece in July of 02' I ran into A LOT of Long Islanders, the guys were mostly pricks the gals were mostly **** (story for another day).......anyhow I met a cool Yankees fan there and I was telling him about Bobby Abreu on the Phillies...............we were hammered in a bar and he said "Bobby Abre - WHO?" and I replied "Bobby Abre - YOU MOTHER ****ER!!!" one of his buddies got in on video and he called me like a year later after watching the tape...............funny ****.

Pence can't handle Philly, Cudeyer is older; the phillies need to get younger that leaves Trumbo...he will probably command a pretty high price tag considering his age...
