Steelers promise to get Markus Wheaton more involved in the offense

05:10 PM ET 09.17 | Following the latest loss for the Pittsburgh Steelers, it becomes more and more clear that the team is lacking offensive weapons and a deep threat after allowing Mike Wallace to walk in the offseason. One thing people have had a hard time understanding is why the team hasn't used rookie speedster Markus Wheaton in a big role for the offense, but that could all be changing soon. After the game, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin promised that the team would find a way to get the rookie more involved. Wheaton has just 12 reps in two weeks, but the 31st-ranked offense in the league is looking for a spark and getting the rookie on the field is one way that they can begin to shake things up. Getting Wheaton more involved will allow Emmanuel Sanders to bump inside to the slot where he could excel, while Wheaton fills the Mike Wallace role and stretches the field for the Steelers offense.

After watching last night they will need more help than Markus Wheaton to right the ship.

Todd and Ben acted like they were getting along at the outset of the season. It'll be interesting to see who throws who under the bus first.

Unless the OL gets better BR won't have the time to throw deep to Wheaton.

Right! OL comes to mind.

The steelers suck and Rotten burger looks awful. He spends more time now looking at who is going to hit him than downfield for his receivers.

The Steelers will have some games this year where they look sharp. But overall, it's probably going to be some pretty drastic inconsistency.

I predict Haley will be fired around Halloween.
