Eddie Lacy may not return until Week 5

05:16 PM ET 09.17 | The helmet-to-helmet hit taken by Green Bay Packers starting running back Eddie Lacy this past Sunday was pretty wicked. In the slow motion replays, you could see Lacy's helmet bow into his head as the shock wave released its energy, sending Lacy to the ground with a concussion. Wanting to be extremely careful given the concern for Lacy's health, it's sounding more and more likely that the Alabama product will not see the field until at least Week 5.

Crikey! I've got Lacy and Amendola.... Teams are going to have to increase their roster at least a couple of slots if this is how the NFL goes forward. A concussion putting a player on the bench for 3 weeks is going to make the practice squad even more important.

Wicked hit.

I thought his jaw was broken. The hit was vicious yo.

Calm down, it's pretty common for a concussed player to miss the following game. It so happens that the Packers have their bye week 4 so thus the week 5 return. He (Lacy) will return a much more ready participant. Packers will need his contributions in the weeks to come.

Ya no game ejection from the ref and they are concerned about players safety? Later on the same guy tried another head butt and it didn't work so well. Had he been ejected he wouldn't have had the opportunity.
All I know, I don't want to hear any crap from the commish on safety and the deep concern for players injuries.

Pretty easy solution for the commish: if the head butt looked deliberate, game ejection and find. If it was deemed accidental (player being tripped, etc) then it shouldn't be any penalty.

No excuse for allowing that guy to stay in the game. One of the most deliberate, vicious hits I've ever seen. By not flagging the play, you basically said to the guy "hey...it must be ok with these refs so I'll do it again"...and he did. At least it was him hurt this time. But to allow someone to steal someone's career like that is just flat wrong.

Don't be so sure he will be back in week 5. They are so careful with concussions these days that if there are ANY lingering affects, he won't play. He could miss several weeks. The good thing is, he never had a concussion at Alabama, so this may be his first. That makes it quicker and easier to get him back on the field.

To take a shot like that and miss 3/4 of one game and probably the next game (Cincy) is bad enough, but to take THAT hit from a known "head-hunter" who goes unflagged and does it again against Starks a few plays later, is inexcusable. Here it is Wednesday and we learn that the running back will miss significant time and games, but with not so much as a flag, a fine, or anything else from the NFL is ridiculous. Bunch of hypocrites...

My opponent this week owns MJD, Fitzgerald, and R.Bush. I'll bet he doesn't know what the hell to do.
