Vick still grateful to Reid

07:17 AM ET 09.18 | Michael Vick admits he wasn't always the best pupil in his younger days, which is where a big redhead comes into focus. During his six seasons with the Falcons, he routinely was the last to arrive at their practice facility and the first to leave. ... All of that changed 4 years ago when Andy Reid went out on a very long limb for Vick and offered him a second chance at football and life. ... "Coach has had a big influence on my life as far as my way of thinking," Vick said [Tuesday]. "There were plenty of times where I would go up to coach's office and talk to him about things I wasn't comfortable talking to anybody else about. "I didn't know our relationship was going to progress into that when I came here, but it did. I was very thankful for that. Because I spent a lot of time in his office and we became close. I appreciated that."

Michael Vick is an easy target but the truth is he served his time, went back to work and seems to have genuinely changed. Many will never forgive what he did, but then again many will. Anytime a person can pull themselves back from the edge and turn it around is to be applauded.

Vick's cool.

Eagle fans will miss Andy Reid over the next few years though. Guaranteed.

Some things cannot be forgiven and certainly never forgotten.

Personally I miss him already.

This new dude they got doesn't seem fan friendly

Depends on what you mean. Some think he is because he's much more personable in his press conferences. That was one of Andy's downfalls with the local media.

When you get too personable with the media, they expect you to stay that way. It can be a downfall when things go bad. All of the good coaches are never too personable with them. Belichick, Shanny, and yes... Andy Reid.

The Dark Lord punishes those who don't think he's fan-friendly.

And so would have Walsh without Montana.....

I'll give Fat Andy a lot of credit for taking a chance on Vick. In terms of turning into an asset to his team, well, look at how the Eagles play when he's on the field, vs. how they play when he's on crutches.

As a football player, the biggest problem Vick has is being hurt too much. They might have had a couple of division titles if he could stay healthy.

He got Matt Cassel to go 11-5. Do you know anyone else that could do that?
