Pelini coaching Saturday?

07:29 AM ET 09.18 | If he's being honest, Nebraska coach Bo Pelini doesn't know about his future. As Tuesday night closed, a haze remained around the Nebraska football program, with [Pelini's] job status still seeming in limbo after Monday's release of an expletive-heavy rant from Pelini about Husker fans. ... On Monday night, Pelini talked in person about the issue with Husker athletic director Shawn Eichorst and by phone with UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman. But he said he had not had any further conversations with either of the men Tuesday. With nothing said, Pelini was still planning on coaching in Saturday's game against South Dakota State. "I haven't been given any assurances, but you just proceed with the information you have, and I'm the head football coach until someone says different," Pelini said.

How long will the Chancellor hold is finger up to determine which way the wind is blowing? Either suspend him or back him, don't let the coach twist in the wind.

He should have known better than to say what he said when cameras were around. You know some jerkoff is going to record it and it would go viral. He should have said it behind closed doors in front of his cohorts where there are no cameras. That being said, we all say stuff we don't mean in the heat of the moment, and regret it later. I'm sure hundreds of coaches have said the same thing behind closed doors. I'm sure he knows as well as anyone having been there so long that Nebraska is a passionate fan base, and they are not used to losing. He better fix this ??? and fast.

The best way to fix this: WIN!

From time to time everyone gets emotional and irrational and says stuff they don't really mean. Thanks to technology (people running around with gadgets) the only safe place to do this is in private. You can't even vent with colleagues anymore ... someone may be recording.

true, but you can't rail against the one thing that drives athletic dept. For COC, they are known for their loyal fanbase, as the UCLA announcers mentioned time and time again.

That would be like Mack saying Jamail, McCombs, Hicks and the rest all stole their money and are idiots. Or, OKLite saying BP is a moron.

Some things you just can't do. Especially, if you haven't won anything of value.

Nebraska is in a middle of a corn field with cows and pigs (coeds) with all farmers living there. Does anyone actually care about Nebraska. Nebraska does not matter.

Yes. China and Russia

Missile silos.

To fire a great coach because he spoke his mine. What happen to freedom of speech in this country? If they fire their coach I hope that they lose the rest of their games.

Pelini might be correct, but he's not "politically correct".

This guy is a goofy forker who loses big games a lot. I'd drop him like a hot potato. On top of that, he curses the fans.

Or it could be a case of Nebraska fans/alums under the impression that Tom Osbourne is still HC of the Huskers. They needed to lower their expectations some time ago. Bo has 50 wins early in his 6th season - that's pretty damn good.
