Meyer open to playing two QBs at once

07:30 AM ET 09.18 | Braxton Miller may be ready to return, but his backup has shown to be more than capable -- and Kenny Guiton has made the most of his opportunity. Guiton has played so well, in fact, that OSU head coach Urban Meyer admitted that it will be hard to keep him off the field, even once Miller -- the preseason favorite to win the Heisman Trophy -- returns to the Buckeyes' lineup. "Kenny Guiton has earned some time," Meyer said. "He did a nice job." While both Meyer and OSU offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Tom Herman have downplayed the notion of a quarterback controversy with each sticking by Miller as the Buckeyes' No. 1 signal caller, it's hard to deny that the situation is anything but interesting. ... [Meyer has] yet to rule out the possibility of putting both signal callers on the field simultaneously.

Lead off hitter.

What say ye Harley, WAMU, BB. Hillbilly or any other bucknut out there?

September 18, 2013  08:04 AM ET

Two thoughts...1) any time there is an injury to the knee it does not heal in just a few weeks. I can't believe that Miller will be 100%...2) I see a risk that if Miller does play he and the offense will be less efficient due to his not being on the field much during the games. I would be hesitant to bring in Miller to start against Winsconsin and Northwestern when he has not played hardly at all in the first set of games

Does how well the backup played hurt Millers trophy possibilities??? Ya know, the "system v. player" argument???

September 18, 2013  08:17 AM ET

Certainly not a bucknut, but I'll weigh in; who is coming out of the line-up if both qb's are on the field at the same time? Seems like this would be more disruptive than helpful.

If Miller is good-to-go, then Miller needs to play. I've had some discussions with other Buckeye fans, and the idea of having Miller taking snaps with Guiton in the backfield does have a certain intrigue, but, honestly, we are NOT tsun.

watch the cal game....guiton is the real deal, and he is a dual threat qb. He actually makes the correct reads, so the team seems to be a tad more efficient. BUT, if Miller had been in the game, several of qb runs would have been td's.

and Hyde comes back this week, too. Hyde has to play. Since there is only 1 ball, the Bucks have to increase the number of plays they run, just to get everyone their "touches."

I have heard some serious, serious discussion to let the season go on with Kenny G at the helm and redshirt BM. Got to admit that is intriguing but highly unlikely.

I have to agree with everyone regarding the healing of an MCL strain. I worry that the kid is coming back to soon. Why play against FAMU. It is a no-brainer to sit him this week too even if you have Wisky the following week. To much at stake and Kenny is on fire.

I don't want to see Meyer playing 2 QB's. Especially if Miller isn't 100%. I mean it's Florida A & M...if the Buckeyes can't beat them with KG @ QB then there are alotta problems in Columbus right now. Hopefully Meyer just sits Miller for this weeks game though.

It only makes sense if the two guys have different skill sets.

Its a good option to have......as I said last week Guiton is just as good as any one ......not as mobile as Miller but throws alot nicer ball......GO BUCKS!!

It seems to work at Northwerstern.

Miller won't play this week agaist FAMU ......and my guess even if he's 100% to go against Wisconsin he don't start and Urbie lets Guiton start, might as well let him play he has the Offense rolling and then when he starts to stutter then bring in Mller ,but let Guiton play as long as he's doing good.
