07:11 AM ET 09.19 | Wednesday was quite a busy day in Cleveland, where the Browns traded Trent Richardson and named yet another new quarterback. Quarterback Brian Hoyer will start for the Browns (0-2) Sunday on the road against the Minnesota Vikings (0-2) while Brandon Weeden sits out with a sprained right thumb. Browns coach Rob Chudzinski informed Hoyer on Tuesday afternoon that he will start, and the team announced the decision this morning. Hoyer will become the 19th quarterback to start for the Browns since 1999. ... Chudzinski did not commit to giving the starting job back to Weeden when he returns from injury. "I'm going to leave all the options open," Chudzinski said. "Really, it's a matter of where he's at from a health standpoint and all that plays into it and where we're at and how guys are playing as well."

Hoyer was a good soldier for the Patriots, but that's about all. He rarely got on the field, and when he did, no one was impressed.

I wish him well, though.

In Cleveland? lmao

Is it just me, but it seems more apparent every year that the NCAA cannot produce enough NFL ready players and the NFL's main focus on making money has resulted in many teams that are no better than some DII college teams. Jacksonville, Cleveland, Oakland, St. Louis, Arizona, and 8-10 teams that won't even break .500 this year. I'd rather see 12 good teams fielded than 6 good teams and 15 bad ones.

I don't think it's been that different in recent years than at any other time. Sure, there are some years where there have been maybe 3-5 but generally, most college qb's don't play in a system that makes them NFL ready. College coaches want to keep their jobs so whatever they decide to run will benefit them and the school if successful. They aren't thinking about their players going to the next level.

Weeden's run in the sun is over. Put a fork in him.

I guarantee you that the Browns can't flip Weeden for a first rounder.

If they can, Banner & Lombardi should be shoo-ins for Exec's of the Year

Jason Campbell would have won them at least 7 games.
