07:18 AM ET 09.19 | Arizona has taken two of three from the Dodgers this week, but the team has been hovering around .500 for much of 2013. General manager Kevin Towers said everyone is accountable for the Diamondbacks' season, including himself and manager Kirk Gibson, both of whom are approaching the final season of their contracts. Arizona entered Wednesday with a record of 76-74 -- 10 1/2 games behind the first-place Dodgers in the National League West [before topping Los Angeles]. "My job is as much at risk as Gibby's when you have seasons like this," Towers said. "I still fully support Gibby. This happens in baseball. When you're down, everybody is going to start pointing fingers about who's to blame. Good organizations have some solidarity and believe in one another."

By the way - just had to post this little excerpt..... GO RAYS!!!!!!!!! GO CARDS!!!!!!!

-------
Sports fans are a special breed. People who write letters to newspapers are also a special breed. When these two worlds collide, hilarity can often enuse. That was the case with a Letter to the Editor in Tuesday???s SF Gate. A couple of 49ers fans were so upset about the crowd noise their team had to endure during Sunday???s game in Seattle, they suggested the NFL institute a punishment.

Their solution: ???The visiting team may stop the game when fan noise is greater than a specified decibel level, and should this rule be violated in more than three games, no home games will be played at the offending field for the rest of the season, including playoff games. Things would quiet down.???

Yes, I???m sure the NFL is getting right on that. (Thanks to Brien A., of Olympia, Wash., and Derek Einhaus, of Port Orchard, Wash., for the tip.)

D-backs do not have the depth necessary to sustain a full season with their current roster, and they had a couple of NICE surprises with a couple of players, Didi and Goldschmidt.... They are still a few pieces away from being a consistent challenger for the division, IMHO.....

The three disappointing teams this year in order - Blue Jays, Giants, and DBacks.

I was surprised they gave up on a struggling Ian Kennedy. He seems to have righted himself with the Padres.

Coach? Shouldn't the title read "Manager, GM under fire"?

I've always liked this Arizona coaching staff. They were dynamite on my rotisserie league team years ago.

Gibby is not going anywhere, they love him here. The only guy who might go is Matt Williams, and that would be to manage.

I think a lot of preseason prognosticators had the Blue Jays playing the Nats in the WS.
