07:07 AM ET 09.20 | For J.J. Watt and Rob Turner, Week 2 has spilled nearly into Week 3, even after Turner was fined. Turner declined to reveal the total of the fine except to say "it wasn't exorbitant." He said he doesn't think he's a dirty player. "I am a hard-nosed guy and that gets misconstrued sometimes," Turner said. "I know J.J. was saying all sorts of stuff to the media down there about him (telling me he has) a family to feed and stuff like that, but all that wasn't true and he's full of it for saying it. That was a lie about him talking to me." Watt, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, had two sacks against the Titans. He unloaded on Turner after the game and said the peel-back block was "absolutely" dirty. "I'm not trying to get my knee blown out. That's why there's a rule in place," Watt said.

Whenever I read the quote "I'm a hard-nosed guy", I interpret that as "I will play outside the rules to gain an advantage" or "this is only way I will stay employed in this league, as my talent is not good enough on it's own"..

They're all full of it.

September 20, 2013  09:22 AM ET

ha! watch the replay, its clearly a dirty tackle by turner. does he not know that going after the knees of a defensive player (who has his back to you) is a dirty play?

September 20, 2013  09:22 AM ET

The NFL and all the rule changes in the name of safety I eventually going to lose viewers. It won't happen over night, but when the defense an only hit between the thighs and shoulders, without drawing a flag it puts the defense at a disadvantage.

September 20, 2013  09:27 AM ET

Let's be honest, the Texans push the rules as far as possible with their blocking schemes, so JJ needs to think a bit before ripping other players. That said, nobody should be going for another player's knees.

September 20, 2013  09:33 AM ET

With all the rules geared at protecting WRs ,RBs, ad QBs. There is one rule that should be addressed. If a defensive payer so much as puts a hand on a face mask it is a 15 yd. penalty. However RBs or WRs can straight arm a defensive player in face and rip off another 10-20 yards, a great play. If that RB or WR straight arms a defensive player in the face that should net the offense the same 15 yard penalty.

On the Suh Scale, Turner's hit was less than an arm stomp but more than a groin kick. Definitely dirty in the Nancy Football League.
