07:15 AM ET 09.20 | Paul Pierce was at it again, this time turning his offseason game on J.R. Smith. "Who?" Pierce said when asked Thursday afternoon about Smith, a frequent participant in Knicks-Nets jawboning this offseason. When Smith's name was repeated, Pierce made his point clear. "Who?" he repeated before heading into new Nets teammate Deron Williams' charity dodgeball tournament, which was held at Basketball City on the Lower East Side. "Who are we talking about right now? Exactly." Smith made headlines earlier this month when he told ESPN New York that Pierce will have to "pay for" his words earlier this summer. Pierce had talked up the burgeoning rivalry between the Knicks and Nets, saying the Nets would eventually own New York. "I just look at him as a bitter person just getting out of Boston," Smith said.

JR Smith shouldn't even acknowledge what Paul Pierce is saying. The Nets are completely irrelevant and they know it, which is why they are trying to create drama where there is none. But of course JR, being the equal numb skull that he is will respond, thereby validating a washed up Pierce who is way beyond the point of being any sort of consistent threat on the basketball court.

In my estimation, at this point in their careers, Smith and Paul can deliver about the same benefit (and drawback) since what Pierce loses in age and ability, he makes up for in court savy. While Smith is not Pierce in that regard, Pierce is not Pierce anymore in terms of atheltic ability. Since JR has that all over him, Pierce must try and gain a psychological advantage, which it appears may be working.

The moral of the story is, both of these idiots should just shut up and play the games. Nobody cares about the rest of this nonsense.

Don't you just love disagreements between a first ballot HOFer (Pierce) and a guy whose name will never appear on a HOF ballot? JR should keep his mouth shut.

The HOF is meaningless.

Although with the way things increase in cost in NYC, it may very well soon be $225 to ride the subway.
