10:49 AM ET 09.21 | The tense drama, suspense and soap opera atmosphere Friday at Wrigley Field had nothing to do with the play on the field. Cubs closer Kevin Gregg took the 9-5 loss to the Braves after giving up four runs in the ninth inning, and before long he was venting about perceived disrespect from Cubs management. In response, President Theo Epstein said he was considering releasing the veteran. On Saturday, however, the Cubs announced that Epstein had accepted Gregg's apology and the closer would not be released.

Kevin Gregg has done alright as a closer. He has one meltdown is no reason for a controversy. Not clear if Cubs manager Svuem said something about Greggs melt down or front office said something. Or if Gregg though something was said or done. The article never really said. Bottom line. Gregg is not reason Cubs are where they are.
