07:17 AM ET 09.23 | Pittsburgh certainly has been kind to A.J. Burnett, who won again on Saturday in a 12-strikeout performance, and management would like to see him return to Steeltown. [Burnett], who will be a free agent after this season, last week told the Tribune-Review he is considering retirement. On Sunday, general manager Neal Huntington said Burnett has not indicated whether he wants to return. "We will do everything within our power to keep A.J. here," Huntington said. "He's (told us he's) loved it here. He's felt wanted and welcome here. If he decides to continue to pitch, he absolutely has an open mind for Pittsburgh and would love to finish his career as a Pirate. We'd like to continue that dialogue." Burnett will turn 37 in January.

Hell, pay him enough to reconsider retirement and see if he can keep that lightning trapped in that bottle.
Although I suspect he's thinking about retiring from the Pirates to find more lucrative employment elsewhere.

Plus AJ looks good in a bumblebee costume.

He's only given up 10 dingers and has over 200 punchouts this season. Getting traded to the Pirates, if anything, has prolonged and rejuvenated his career. He'll be back.

Good they can have him and keep him, he pitches better in the NL anyways...

He likes it in Pittsburgh because there is no pressure and no expectations.

He's already said that if he does play next year, it will only be in Pittsburgh.
