07:24 AM ET 09.23 | With a second instate rival this month on the schedule, Al Golden offered optimistic news coming out of a weekend in which it won by 70. [Golden] said quarterback Stephen Morris should be full-go for the USF game Saturday at noon in Tampa. Morris sustained what was believed to be a sprained right ankle Saturday in the first quarter of UM's 77-7 victory against Savannah State, but Golden said Sunday that Morris' injury has "been classified as a bruise now." ... "It's not really even a sprain," Golden said. "It's a bone bruise." When asked if Morris would be "full-go" for USF, the coach said, "Oh yeah, absolutely. I feel good about it. I really do. We might be careful with him [Monday], but our goal is to get him going for our Tuesday practice, which is obviously our most demanding practice."

Wonder if the $1 million Savannah State got paid was worth the humiliation?

I was wondering that about FAMU. Paycheck games can hellacious.

Sav State was paid less than $400k.

September 23, 2013  03:40 PM ET

FAMU got ~$900k.

Bone bruises can be kinda serious though.

And at $55 a ticket, break-even was a crowd of @ 17,750. The rest, profit (let's not forget about parking, concessions, etc).

That's a return on investment you would kill for in any other business.....

Whatever Savannah State got paid, give them credit. They stepped up last year to play us, after Dana The Chicken-hearted had WVU pay us 6 figures to avoid the BEATDOWN we'd have given the Mounties.
