07:27 AM ET 09.23 | Florida's past few seasons in the NHL have been far from sunny, including finishing last in the Eastern Conference in consecutive seasons and second-to-last conference showing in 2009-2010. A source assures that Vincent Viola, the Panthers' prospective new owner, has deep pockets, with a net worth north of $1 billion. Majority owner Cliff Viner decided not to keep a small piece, and all of the minority owners are selling to Viola. The Panthers are about $12 million below the $64 million salary cap ceiling, according to capgeek.com, and the hope around the club is the payroll eventually will increase. But we'll wait to hear from Viola on that before we get our hopes up, especially because the team has been losing $20 million a year.

This is the third article I've read that says Vinnie has deep pockets.

Too bad they're not his own.

The trick is to drive an old pickup truck with a faded confederate flag bumper sticker down that way. A shaved head doesn't hurt either.

Move the team, keep the arena that's profitable, and turn a money loser into two money makers, three if you own the next location's arena too.

Olus his TV ads don't hurt "You ARE going to the game, right??''
