06:17 PM ET 09.23 | UFC light heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson won over plenty of fans over the weekend, with his incredible performance against champion Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 165. Gustafsson and Jones were involved in what many are calling a Fight of the Year candidate, but the two fighters paid the price for their battle with a visit to the hospital immediately after the fight. The good news, however, is that Gustafsson will be able to avoid a long layoff after learning that he has avoided any serious injuries. Gustafsson's coach at Alliance MMA, Eric Del Fierro, was asked by MMA Fighting about his fighter's injuries and Del Fierro was clear that "The Mauler" was able to avoid any injuries that would force him to take a long lay off.

He wh00ped Jones' butt. If Jones wasn't the champ, Gustafsson would have been declared the winner.
