How injuries can help the Wings

07:32 AM ET 09.24 | At some point, the budget crunch was going to set in for Detroit. The Wings calculate themselves as being $2.7 million over the $64.3-million maximum teams are allowed to spend for the 2013-14 season. They also have an excess of forwards, where 17 are vying for 14 spots. The Wings plan to use the rest of the 23-man roster on two goaltenders and seven defensemen. ... Ironically, a slew of injuries could help the Wings solve their problems, at least temporarily. Several players are nursing injuries that could turn serious enough to warrant being placed on long-term injured reserve, which requires a player to miss at least 10 games or 24 days. In essence, a player on LTIR counts against a team's cap, but the cap increases (without penalty). He does not count against the roster limit.

I dunno it seems like everything that happens turns out to benefit the Wings. They are just a good organization that know how to play every angle.

Gustavsson will not get hurt all season. Gustavsson will lead Detroit to the promised land.

See it's fun isn't it. :-)

Kadri just needs to do well this season so the Leafs can package him for a superstar centre and actually become a Cup contender.

Any word yet as to whether Lupul was injured?

Excellent. I found myself amused, laughing hysterically, angry, upset, emotionally stunned, enraged and some other stuff. :-)

and Ms. Pinch?

Signing Cleary was a mistake...and they should have used the buyout on Franzen. I'd hate to see them dump Tootoo...(I don't believe I just said that) because he's fearless...
Dumping Cleary and Franzen would have given them room for a couple of those young guys to step up. You heard it here first... Cleary will be injured by Nov 1 and out for at least 3 different times during the year.. Franzen will miss time due to injury and play hard every 6th game for 12 minutes at a stretch..then disappear again...

QUOTE(#2):

Course Detroits pretending to get injured...they're now in Boston's division...get hurt for real playing Boston or pretend to already be hurt...its a no-brainer for the Dead Wings...I dont blame them either.

Heaven help us if your Bruins ever get to enjoy one half the success the Wings have year in and year out, decade after decade.

Nah. That's not possible. But, if it were, you'd be twice as obnoxious and Hank would have to come up with a more creative avatar for you.

Oh, BTW, didn't the Wings just whooped your arses to the tune of 8-2 just last week?

I agree with all of that.

Especially the not dumping of Tootoo.

Isn't that a Rangers logo in your avatar?

Well they did get the Canucks to roll over for them in 1994.

And the Bruins returned the favour recently, although not quite as bad a thumping?

It's pre-season, not much matters yet.
