04:07 PM ET 09.24 | Dallas Cowboys defensive end Anthony Spencer could be out for the rest of the season according to owner and general manager Jerry Jones. He has been fighting a knee injury for the majority of the summer and even had arthroscopic surgery on his knee in late July that held him out for almost the entire training camp. Now Jones is saying that Spencer could need microfracture surgery essentially ending his season.

I always enjoy articles that quote the owner/general manager. The president rarely says anything of significance, he's probably busy printing up the lunch menu's and the employee newsletter.

Not good News for The Boys.

Not a Cowboys fan but I hate to see anybody get hurt. Hope he doesn't miss the whole year.

So next year instead of signing him to a contract in excess of +$10 mil per year they have a decision to make. Let him go and sign his replacement (who is also hurt) to a larger contract ... or keep Spencer around and negotiate something in the $5 mil range.

Next year Dez Bryant, Tyron Smith, Bruce Carter will be looking to get paid.

Any way you look at it ... it sucks for Spencer.

That's rough. Maybe JJ can use his formidable Jedi mind powers to heal the injury.
