07:15 AM ET 09.25 | Less than a week remains in this short offseason for Miami, but the Heat seeks options. [Veteran guard Roger Mason Jr. is] the latest to emerge on the team's workout list. Even with 13 players under guaranteed contract for 2013-14, and with 18 players already invited to camp, the Heat continue to audition candidates, with journeyman guard Von Wafer among those at recent sessions. Mason Jr., 33, who recently was elected vice president of the NBA's player union, remains a free agent after spending last season in New Orleans. Teams can carry up to 20 players during camp, but must reduce to between 13 and 15 by the starting of the regular season, which opens Oct. 29 for the Heat against the Chicago Bulls at AmericanAirlines Arena.

I'm also a free agent.

Ha ha ha ha. You are? And all this time I thought you were a secret agent.

He'll be a good pick up for the Heat. Instant offense just like Danny Green especially w/ the 3s.

jeez- how many old wing guys -that do the exact same thing -do they need ?they still need a CENTER- as oden can't even walk yet

There are no Centers to be had... might as well stock up on shooters whom can free up the lane for Wade and Lebron...

Exactly!

Can never have too many guys who can shoot 40% from the 3-point line.

IIRC.......those were the players that got them over the hump against the Spurs in games 6 & 7 of the finals.....

Really says who that they need a Center?

Last I looked, they just won an NBA title that ran through Hibbert and Duncan.

Miami does not need to do anything except get Oden in game shape and figure out what role Beasley serves from the bench.

Keep hatin on Oden though...he is going to surprise you.

nobody ever said oden doesn't have the talent to play, he's just so fragile he's like a piece of glass he's one fall away from breaking

I am not 'hating' on oden-I am stating facts.the guy hasn't played in years.....he isn't even cleared yet to play and you think he's going to1- hold up for the season and through a long playoff?2- be a legit rotation player? he was mediocre pre-injurieswhy will he be even mediocre now?if he does magically play and be a force-I will ABSOLUTELY admit I was wrong in my opinionbut I do not believe he should get the benefit of the doubt now, based on his history

I agree. I don't think the Heat should be counting on Oden to come and save them from the Pacers. They will do themselves a favor if they can convince Beasley to use his athleticism to play better defense. Oden = Done. They should have went after Dalembert.

Oden will not suit up, bro!
Bynum might play before Oden!!

I don't know about Rose though.

LMAO - Did no good the last couple of years.. :-(

Hey what's with the beef between Durant and Wade...? Is that real...?

Well.....pre-injuries, if you go by minutes played....Oden was a better scorer and rebounder in the games he played than Roy Hibbert was last season (Hibbert's best season).

That may be "mediocre" in your eyes, but it's a "mediocre" that a lot of teams would like to get out of their centers.

The only questions about Oden concern his durability and his propensity to get into foul trouble. Once those issues are settled, IF they get settled, Oden will be a solid NBA player.

BTW.....don't know what you mean by "cleared yet to play".....but for at least two weeks now, Oden is no longer in rehab for his knee and is in full workout mode.

I think so......Should make an interesting match-up when the Heat play the Thunder..

Well.....it may be.

SI recently ranked the Top 100 Players in the NBA.....and D.Wade was in the top 10. Apparently, K.Durant stated (publicly) that D.Wade wasn't a Top 10 player.....and that James Harden should've been top 10.

Well.....D.Wade disagrees.....he feels dissed.....and so, he's mad at K.Durant.....
