Bradley, Celtics not close on extension

07:15 AM ET 09.25 | For Avery Bradley, the near future in Boston is a lock. But that could change next summer when the C's guard in all likelihood becomes a restricted free agent. The Celtics and Bradley can come to an agreement on a contract extension by October 31, but that isn't expected to happen. Danny Ainge, Boston's president of basketball operations, said that he and Bradley's representatives will likely have some discussions about an extension next month. But Ainge doesn't anticipate a new deal for the 6-foot-2 guard who last season was named to the NBA's All-Defensive second team. "There's nothing imminent there," Ainge. ... Boston's point guard situation is in a bit of influx with Rajon Rondo (torn right ACL) not expected to be ready to start the season.

They don't need to extend him yet. Let him sweat it out this year and make him work harder. There's nothing wrong w/ letting him play w/ chip on his shoulder.

Do You Have Enough Game, Bro?

Hard to say he is an awful shooter when he is a career +40% fg shooter and +30% 3pt shooter. He can make shots when needed, but he isn't an elite scorer and never will be. He could end up being a Bruce Bowen type player for a team. Obviously he would have to improve some to be at Bowen's level, but it's possible.

Not as bad a shooter as Shaq or Howard may be, but you cannot have both Rondo and Bradley on offense together and expect to win. You need a deadly shooter to make up for Rondo's shooting weakness.
That makes Bradley a bench guy, and there is simply NO reason to start contract extensions to bench players.

I don't think that Boston should re-sign him. As you said you can't start to non-scoring guards and expect to win. I am just defending Bradley as a player and would love to seem him go somewhere else where he can focus on defense and be a shooting option when need be.

If the Celts could extend him for 3rd guard kind of money that would be one thing. But it appears as if Bradley realizes that he may have acquired some leverage that when they got rid of the the Big Three and committed to rebuilding with youth. However, he hasn't stayed healthy enough to really establish his value and the Celts would benefit from him doing so. But, right now, the Celts aren't going to pay him as if he will be a cornerstone of Big Three.v3. Frankly, the time isn't right for either side to side to sign long term.

you cannot start 2 undersized guards that cannot shoot in Rondo and Bradley- ESPECIALLY when you have absolutely no post scoring

who is going to put the ball in the basket for the Celtics?

they are one of the worst offensive teams in the entire league
