Bobblehead fiasco unfolds at Yankee Stadium

07:18 AM ET 09.25 | For some, the scene unfolded as a metaphor for the past meaning more than the present in the Bronx. The line stretched from third base to the right-field foul pole, the remnants of 18,000 fans queued mostly single file on the first level of Yankee Stadium, all in search of the night's most precious commodity: A Mariano Rivera bobblehead. ... A transportation snafu with the figurines created an atmosphere of chaos at the ballpark, with fans locked out of the gates beforehand and herded in endless lines afterward, as they attempted to cash in vouchers for the bobbleheads. Once fans reached the third-base area, with police and stadium attendants guiding the proceedings, the group funneled deep into the guts of the stadium in search of the prize.

Heard a guy on the radio this morning. His friend bought 35 tickets @ $20(brought along some friends) thinking he and them could just come in leave, come in again etc. and was going to sell them on Ebay for $100 each, ended up only getting 6 or 7 because they would only give each person one.

He should have called Quick Temps.

And here I thought only small towns like here in Milwaukee were crazy nut jobs about those stupid little plaster dolls. Nice to see even the "big boys" in New York go crazy about the dumb little things too.

Me too. It's even a shame the adults don't realize that it's the kids that should get these kind of giveaways at the park.

Because 18001 would put them over the luxury tax.
