07:19 AM ET 09.25 | While Marco Scutaro's season is officially over, another former A's player will have an opportunity to say goodbye in a Giants uniform. Barry Zito will get a start on this final homestand, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. It'll likely happen against the San Diego Padres on Saturday, which is Yusmeiro Petit's day to pitch. It's possible that Zito could pitch just a couple innings and then yield to Petit. ... The Giants plan to decline Zito's $18 million option and choose a $7 million buyout. Thus will end a tumultuous seven seasons in which the left-hander will pocket $126 million for going 62-80 with a 4.63 ERA and 1.44 WHIP in 206 games (with one to go). He will not depart with a reviled place in Giants history, though.
