07:24 AM ET 09.25 | In responding to running back Arian Foster's justification for committing an NCAA violation, Duke football coach David Cutcliffe disagreed vehemently. Cutcliffe, who was Tennessee's offensive coordinator during 2006 and 2007, Foster's sophomore and junior seasons, wasn't believing his story when asked about it Tuesday, saying, "That may have been as weak of interview as I've heard. Arian never looked hungry. ... As long as I've been around it, and it's a long time, longer than sometimes than I even think, athletes have been treated pretty well. I don't see anybody getting abused." Cutcliffe also said an athlete's scholarship covers food and rent, adding, "On game day, when you go back to your dorm, you usually got $15 in meal money, and you could buy, I don't know, 10 tacos maybe."

Reagrdless of what's going on with Duke football, Foster is a fool and appears to be lacking in the common sense. He'll be near broke 2 years after he's done playing which may not be too far off.

The $2,000 stipend NCAA President Mark Emmert proposed was voted down by Div. I coaches because it amounted to a pay cut I suspect.

I'm against these guys getting paid. As Cutcliffe said, the athletes are treated very well. Pampered you could say. Buffet lines of healthy food after practice, athlete dorms, etc... And the whole argument about guys getting paid because of all the money they generate brings up this point....yeah, a small handful of big time D1 football and basketball programs might generate tons of cash.....but what about Akron football, or FIU baseball, or TCU volleyball? What about D2 and D3 programs? Where do you draw the line on which schools' players get paid? I can guarantee you many athletic programs are not profit centers for their schools, and most are an expense. A full ride free education is a pretty good deal. You wanna get paid to play, go pro.
