07:11 AM ET 09.26 | From a financial standpoint, things could have been worse for All-Pro linebacker Aldon Smith -- although it may cost him in the long run. [Smith] will continue to receive his full salary from the 49ers for the duration of the time he remains away from the team, sources confirmed to CSNBayArea.com on Wednesday. Smith, who entered in-patient treatment for substance abuse this week, has a base salary of $1.68 million this season. The 49ers will pay him his weekly salary of $98,978 during his leave of absence. ... Smith is likely to face a suspension without pay or fine from the NFL after his latest incident is adjudicated. ... Next season, Smith is scheduled to make $2.336 million. Any suspension in 2014 would cost Smith more than $137,000 per week.

My cousin's aunt's boyfriend Aldon isn't working, but he's making $2,474.45 an hour just for a few hours a week being a linebacker on his laptop.

Has anybody ever come out of one of these high class rehab centers and had the staff there say " Fuhgettabout it, a waste of time? "

This kind of stuff with celebrities is just window dressing.

September 26, 2013  08:58 AM ET

" Substance Abuse?".... What does that have to do with the guns and the guys who got shot at when Aldon threw the party?

Window dressing that pays cash and doesn't argue about the bill.

The urine-soaked guy who shows up and says "Do you take Obamacare?" gets shown the door.

He'll be bankrupt and suing the NFL with 2 years after retiring.

The 49ers are coddling Aldon through his addiction with the hopes that Aldon and his agent will not be so demanding when the time comes to extend his contract.

The NFL will soon have to decide how many games without pay Aldon will be sidelined. All in all 49er fans should not expect to see Smith play in more than 1/2 of the 2013 season games.

The 49ers will not sign Aldon Smith until his legal problems concerning the party at his home in which he was stabbed several times and supposedly shot a guy with a gun that was not registered in the state of California are resolved. If the courts find him guilty he may end up doing time in prison.
