07:12 AM ET 09.26 | Looking back, an August 2011 scrimmage may have served as the first meeting of a mutual admiration society between Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick and Philip Rivers. After the scrimmage, Scandrick said he talked with [Rivers], picking his brain to better understand what Rivers was seeing on the field. ... "He'll do a lot of talking but he backs it up," Scandrick said. "He can talk all he wants. For the last nine or 10 years, that team has been on his back. I got a world of respect for him." Shortly after Scandrick made those comments, Rivers was asked about the 26-year-old cornerback during a conference call at Valley Ranch. "He's a heck of a competitor," Rivers said. ... "He's so competitive. He has a knack for making plays and he plays the ball well. He's certainly a big contributor for them."

For the last 9 or 10 years, that team has been on its back.

Wonder which team will try to give away the game harder

The Chargers seem to be rounding into their usual early season 'how did they lose that game?' form (witness last week with the Titans). Dallas tends to coast into a slow slide come late November and into December. My money is on the Bolts!

Good question.

The real losers will be the regional fans who are forced to watch that lackluster game with countless shots of Jerry looking confused, as if he needs another tablespoon of Geritol.

Cowboys history under Carrot shows they don't do well after a win, hence their inability to have any kind of winning streak, although this week I think Rivers throws more picks than Romo.

Imagine if Jerrah had a face transplant and came back looking like Carrot Top. The Cowboys would then have one in the front office and one on the sidelines.

I think one transplant is enough.

He's got that 40-year-old brain, just sitting in a jar on his desk waiting to be installed.

Rivers has not had tons to work with but he's had lots of chances too. Seems to me that a new day may have to dawn on SD.

He'd do better with a GM implant.

My friend who has season Charger tickets (everyone laugh) sold his tickets to this game to a Cowboys fan for $600. He's smiling all the way to the bank.
