07:27 AM ET 09.26 | The San Francisco 49ers, who have already landed a Super Bowl hosting gig at their new stadium, are setting their sights on college football's national championship game, too. The team is submitting a bid this week for Levi's Stadium to host the third-ever title game of the new College Football Playoff format in 2017, one year after hosting the 50th Super Bowl. At least a few other cities are competing, and the NCAA will pick a winner in six weeks. ... he college championship typically ranks ahead of the NBA Finals, World Series, NCAA Final Four and Stanley Cup Finals -- and behind only the NFL playoffs -- among TV's most-watched sporting events. More than 26 million viewers tuned in to this year's game. The economic impact to host cities is estimated at tens of millions of dollars to more than $200 million.

Nah, he'll still be holding up the trophy, just wearing a burnt-orange shirt while doing so

Mild weather in January, but froggy. Love San Francisco. A bit expensive, but an enchanting city to leave your heart. 'Course the Field of Jeans will be about 40 miles down the road in Santa Clara. No roof. If it rains, it pours in Northern Cali.

Gotta be better than Minnesota!! Playing football out-of-doors is very much better than some indoor crap. In the end, it doesn't matter to me, they can play the game in The 'Shoe. Weather's the same on both sides. Tee it up, kick it off and let's play some football.

We didn't have an issue playing in the Rose Bowl.

Hopefully.... they'll just ask Alabama. "So, where would you prefer to play the 2017 champonship, since you've won the last 5 in a row."
