07:29 AM ET 09.26 | Goalies, consider yourselves warned. Kay Whitmore, the man responsible for the administration and enforcement of the downsizing of pads, is on the prowl, measuring device at the ready. "Spot checks will be frequent and I'll be arriving unannounced," Whitmore, the NHL's Senior Manager of Hockey Operations and Goaltender Equipment, told QMI Agency as he prepared to take to the road for the regular season. There are going to be nights when Whitmore won't arrive at a game until the third period. In the past, if NHL pad police like Whitmore showed up for a game, word would make its way to the dressing rooms and some massaging of potential illegal gear would take place to guarantee passing muster. Now Whitmore will appear and goalies will be brought directly to a room immediately after leaving the ice following a game.

I can picture Whitmore popping his head out of a goalies locker and yelling, "Surprise!!!"

I'm not saying you're correct Buc but at his hearing he was represented by the SPCA.

BTW how do you explain to your kids that you measure goalie's "equipment" for a living?

You can't wear pads the next game. Just jockey shorts and a helmet. Doubt there'll be repeat offenders!

Next game you have to wear Mini-Pads.

Luongo and Miller already do so no problem for them.

Probably not family viewing Slappy. Especially if the "helmet" is poking out of the jockey shorts.

Except for Luongo. He needs his pads. The maxi variety, that is. Or, will Kay be checking those too?
