Shanahan admits offense is losing shock factor

07:07 AM ET 09.27 | Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan sees a brand new world, one a little less shiny and new than before. [Shanahan] said Thursday that the Washington Redskins and other NFL teams with option-style plays in their offenses are "not shocking people" the way they did last season. Opposing defenses have adjusted, Shanahan said, after it was "easy at times" last season to make such an offensive approach work. "You knew any time you get the attention that we did, that San Fran. did, Seattle did last year, when you have something that was that successful, guys are too smart," Shanahan said at Redskins Park. "They're gonna work all offeason, find a way to stop it. I think when that happens, you've got to get better at the other stuff. I think we do have some other stuff. I think we are getting better at it."

I live in the DMV area and Skins fans still banking they will go hot like last year and win 7 straight games. LMAO! G'luck! I bet they will go 0-4 after this weekend.

I think the offense has shocked Redskin fans for the last 3 games.

But, Hail to the Redskins anyway. There's a long way to go.

When they play the Cowboys all that is ailing them will be fixed.

Same here....that's the thought right before ultra panic mode

Even money bet that Cousins plays the last nine games of the season. I don't see RGIII making it out of the Broncos game walking. Von Millers' first game back and I'd think he'll be playing with a little red @$$.

Have you seen the Cowboys' defense in action? Not the same old D. They're playing pretty good.

They've played the Rams. Right..that shows a lot. KC is not an offensive juggernaut. Oh..Eli lit 'em up for 450 in the first game. I think I would temper that enthusiasm at the moment.

I also think losing Spencer has been a bit unstated...

haven't seen you in a while. Funny that the only game Spencer played they lost. His replacement George Selvie has been doing very well (for now).

They are usually here. Maybe it's free donut friday and they are indulging. As long you are busy in a good way, that's cool!

I am in DC and no, we don't expect to run the table, especially with the difficulty of the schedule. Starting with game 5, the D should improve in the middle (when two suspended players come back). We also believe (perhaps hope, rather than believe) that RG3 will get through his real season pre-season. He's got to make better decisions.

Of course, Kyle Shanahan is a terrible play caller. When in the red zone with a guy with a laser arm, you have to call at least ONE play where you send receivers into the end zone. He's a tool and only has a job because of his dad. RG3 needs to call the plays..just point to the helmet like it's a communications problem!

Sounds good to me.

HAIL!!

I don't think RGIII will ever be the same.
